Rationale


As the business environment is continuously changing and becomes more and more unpredictable, the management of change constitutes a main prerequisite for the performance of the organisation. This course aims to offer to the students the opportunity to expose themselves to the latest thinking and practice in the management of change, to effectively introduce and manage corporate change. It is widely accepted that the competitive advantage of an organisation depends heavily on its adaptability to change and the incorporation of new systems.

Learning Outcomes


At the end of the course students will be expected to:
(i)    Examine key factors that influence the success or failure of change management practices.
(ii)   Describe the main strategies for introducing and implementing organisational change effectively.
(iii)  List the different environmental, socioeconomic and technological pressures propelling organisations towards change.
(iv)  Discuss different management approaches to change.
(v)   Define the drivers of “resistance to change” and identify appropriate strategies and techniques to help people adjust through change.
(vi)  Identify the elements and factors that contribute to the design of adaptive organisations.
(vii) Reflect upon their own approach to managing change.
(viii)Identify the skills for communicating change.
